Day 1 | Welcome to the city of two continents

Upon arrival, your personal driver will be waiting for you outside Istanbul International Airport to take you to your hotel in the city center. Once you’ve settled into your hotel, you’ll have the rest of the day to relax. Alternatively, you can choose to explore the city on your own and see for yourself why Napoleon Bonaparte once said, “If the earth were a single state, Istanbul would be its capital.”

When you feel hungry, treat your taste buds to a delightful local meal. Dine at one of Istanbul’s many kebab restaurants or explore other Turkish specialties such as fresh fish and mezes, pide (flatbread), kofte (meatballs), and raki—an anise-flavored apéritif, proudly holds the title of Turkey’s national drink.

Day 2 | Explore the historical treasures of Istanbul’s Old City

Good morning! Before we start our exploration today, we suggest having a nice Turkish breakfast to get ready for the day. You’ll need the energy because today we’re going on a full-day walking tour of the major landmarks in Istanbul’s Old City, with a private guide.

Our journey begins with a visit to the ancient Hippodrome, once a vibrant center for chariot races and sporting events during the Byzantine era. Then, we’ll visit the nearby Blue Mosque, famous for its beautiful interior decorated with blue tiles. After that, we’ll check out the Basilica Cistern, an underground wonder with an interesting history as a water storage system. We’ll finish the morning section with a visit to the impressive Hagia Sophia—an architectural masterpiece that has witnessed the rise and fall of empires.

After a delicious lunch break at a Michelin-recommended restaurant to refuel, we’ll dive into the splendor of the Ottoman Empire at Topkapi Palace. Get ready to admire the stunning architecture and priceless treasures, and learn all about the extravagant lifestyle of the sultans.

In the late afternoon, your guide will take you to the iconic Grand Bazaar. With its 4,000-plus shops spread across 61 streets, it’s a lively market bursting with colors, sounds, and aromas. Here, you can watch skilled artisans at work and put your bargaining skills to the test for some unique treasures.

Afterwards, return to your hotel for some relaxation. Later in the evening, you can venture out for dinner at one of the restaurants in Taksim Square, Galata, or the trendy Karaköy area.

Day 3 | Cruising the Bosphorus and Culinary Walk

On your second day in Istanbul, get ready for an exciting exploration of Istanbul’s most captivating attractions. Today, we’ll use public transportation to give you a taste of local life.

To start our day, we’ll hop aboard a boat for a two-hour cruise along the Bosphorus. From the deck, you’ll have the chance to take in the breathtaking views of Istanbul’s renowned landmarks on both the European and Asian sides of the city. As we glide along, you’ll see everything from Ottoman mansions to marble palaces, stunning mosques, and delightful neighborhoods lining the city’s shores. This cruise promises a one-of-a-kind and picturesque view of Istanbul.

But that’s just the beginning! After the boat ride, we’ll dive into the heart of Istanbul with a food tour along Istiklal Street. We’ll try out some yummy local street food while checking out historical spots like consulates, St. Antoine’s Church, the Galata Whirling Dervish Hall, Tunel District, Neve Shalom Synagogue, and the iconic Galata Tower. Each stop will make you feel more connected to Istanbul’s rich history and culture.

Next, we’ll visit the Camondo Steps, a beautiful Art Nouveau creation from the 1870s leading down to Karaköy‘s waterfront. Then, we’ll cross the Golden Horn via the Galata Bridge to reach the Eminönü waterfront, famous for its lively bazaars. Here, we’ll explore the Spice Market, try some local treats like nuts and Turkish delight, and maybe have a cup of tea in the bustling atmosphere.

After a full day of exploring Istanbul’s sights and flavors, we’ll head back to your hotel for some well-deserved relaxation before dinner.

Day 4 | Fly to Izmir — Iconic History and Archaeology in Ephesus

It’s time to say goodbye to Istanbul and catch a flight to Izmir. Upon your arrival, your expert guide will welcome you and lead you on an exploration of the iconic history and archaeology of Ephesus Ancient City—a vast historical metropolis spanning the Hellenistic, Roman Imperial, and early Christian periods.

During your leisurely stroll down the ancient Arcadian Way, you’ll come across remarkable timeworn buildings such as the Roman Baths, the impressive Celsius Library, and the magnificent Antique Theatre. Each of these sites holds tales of ancient times that will transport you back through history. 

Following a lunch break, our next destination is the House of Virgin Mary. According to legend, Mary came here with Saint John, who preached Christianity in Ephesus for several years. And, of course, we won’t miss the opportunity to see the ruins of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

After the tour concludes, you’ll be driven back to your hotel to unwind and relax. And to top it all off, tonight you’re invited to enjoy a delicious dinner with a Turkish family at their house, adding an extra layer of cultural immersion to your experience.

Day 5 | Aphrodisias & The Cotton Castles of Pamukkale

Today, we’re heading east from Kusadasi to Aphrodisias, an ancient sacred site in Turkey dedicated to the Mother Goddess Aphrodite.

Aphrodisias was known for its sanctuary honoring Aphrodite and flourished from the first century B.C. to the sixth century A.D. Many of its ancient monuments still stand today, and excavations have revealed numerous marble statues and artifacts. The site reflects the civic culture of the Greco-Roman world, preserved and remarkably beautiful.

Next up is Pamukkale, also called the “cotton castle,” one of Turkey’s most photographed spots. It’s famous for its mineral-rich thermal waters flowing down white travertine terraces. Don’t forget your swimsuit, as you can take a dip in some of the hot springs, which are said to be great for the skin.

Nearby is ancient Hierapolis, a Roman spa city founded around 190 BCE. Its name means “sacred city,” and legend has it that it was founded by Apollo and named after Pluto, the god of the underworld. Explore its Necropolis, Roman Baths, Domitian’s Gate, main street, Byzantium Gate, Temple of Apollo, and Theater with a 20,000-seat capacity. You’ll also have some free time to swim in the Antique Pool, famously associated with Marc Anthony’s gift to Cleopatra.

Back in the present day, your hotel in Pamukkale offers spa and thermal pools for relaxation. Take advantage of these amenities before enjoying another delicious dinner featuring the finest Turkish cuisine.

Day 6 | Travel to Antalya — Self-guided exploration

After checking out from your hotel in Pamukkale, we’ll embark on a scenic drive through the stunning Taurus Mountains to reach Antalya. Along the way, you’ll be captivated by the natural beauty unfolding before your eyes. The Taurus Mountains, with their rugged peaks and lush valleys, will provide a spectacular backdrop for our journey, offering breathtaking views and a sense of adventure.

Once we arrive in Antalya and settle into your hotel in the charming old town of Kaleiçi, you’ll have the rest of the day to relax and enjoy the unique heritage and architectural beauty of your accommodation.

Alternatively, you can explore the old city on foot with a self-guided tour. Wander through its narrow streets lined with Ottoman-era houses, bustling shops, cozy cafes and a variety of restaurants to choose from. Discover hidden gems like the Hadrian’s Gate or the impressive Yivli Minaret. Take a moment to soak in the atmosphere and appreciate the beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea from the ancient harbor.

After breakfast, we’ll begin our journey by visiting Perge, a city steeped in history and waiting to be explored. Imagine walking in the footsteps of its ancient residents and picturing the lively scenes that once filled its streets. As we explore the impressive ruins, you’ll discover ancient theaters, grand gates, and intricate mosaics, each with its own fascinating story.

Next, we’ll travel to Aspendos, home to an incredible Roman theater. Step into the majestic Roman theater that has amazed visitors for centuries. Let your voice ring out in its incredible acoustics and picture the applause that once filled its walls. It’s incredible to think that this theater has stood the test of time, a testament to the skill of ancient builders.

After a quick stop to take photos at Düden Waterfalls, we’ll return to the hotel for the night. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at one of the charming beachfront restaurants, where you can savor tasty cuisine while watching the stunning sunset over the Mediterranean Sea.

Day 8 | Fly to Cappadocia — Surreal World of Chimneys & Churches

Today, we’ll catch a morning flight to Cappadocia, a special place protected by UNESCO, famous for its one-of-a-kind rock formations known as “fairy chimneys.”

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your tour guide and enjoy a traditional Turkish breakfast together before starting a day-long adventure. our first stop is the Göreme Open Air Museum in the morning. This site, thought to be a Byzantine monastic settlement, showcases some of the most elaborate rock-cut churches and frescoes in the world. Your guide will take you through various churches and chapels, explaining the techniques used to create these ancient structures dating back to the 10th and 12th centuries.

Next, we’ll explore the surreal Devrent Valley, also called the “Imagination Valley,” where you’ll see rock formations that look like sculptures, sparking your creativity. Then, we’ll head to the nearby Pasabagi Valley, also known as the Valley of Monks, where more enchanting fairy chimneys await.

In the afternoon, we’ll immerse ourselves in another local art form in the charming town of Avanos, renowned for its pottery-making legacy. Pottery has been a tradition in the region since the time of the Hittite civilization (2000-1500 BCE). You’ll have the opportunity to watch a master ceramist at work and try your hand at making your own pottery, making your Cappadocian adventure truly unforgettable.

To wrap up the day, you can choose to take an easy hike in Love Valley, known for its unique rock formations, or opt for a two-hour horseback ride through another stunning valley.

Day 9 | Sunrise Hot Air Balloon & Hiking the Ihlara Canyon

If you’re an early riser, you can kick off your day with a memorable hot air balloon ride, treating yourself to breathtaking views of Cappadocia’s landscape as the sun rises.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast and some relaxation time at your hotel, we’ll embark on our next adventure to Kaymaklı Underground City. This extensive underground complex was constructed by early Christians seeking refuge from persecution. It boasts nearly 100 tunnels and caves to explore, reaching depths of around 65 feet (20 meters).

Following that, we’ll go on a picturesque hike in Ihlara Valley, covering a delightful 4-mile (7 km) trail alongside the Melendiz River. During this two-hour stroll, we’ll make quick stop at Belisırma Village. The terrain is gentle, making it suitable for most ages and skill levels, and you’ll encounter several rock-cut churches scattered throughout the valley. For the more adventurous souls, there’s an option to extend the hike by an additional four miles to reach Selime Monastery. This ancient religious site is carved into volcanic rock and dates back to the 9th century BCE. The landscape here evokes scenes from “STAR WARS,” providing a unique and captivating experience.

To finish our time in this stunning region, we’ll make a brief stop at Pigeon Valley and Uchisar Castle. Here, you can enjoy awe-inspiring panoramic views of Cappadocia, with the towering Mount Erciyes in the background. It’s the perfect way to conclude our unforgettable journey in this breathtaking destination.

Day 10 | Cappadocia to Istanbul — Depart


A Farewell, Not Goodbye!

After enjoying a final Turkish breakfast, we’ll arrange your transportation to Kayseri airport. From there, you’ll catch a flight to Istanbul and then your connecting flight home.
